Son of a carpenter and a specialist educator, Noé Chapsal grew up in Pontcharra, in Isère, surrounded by lakes, mountains, and four brothers and sisters.
In 2006, he discovered breaking during a class at a local youth and cultural centre, at a time when art and theatre were not yet part of his imagination. In this art form, he found friends, power and a capacity for expression that carried him into a new life.
Self-taught, Noé trained through the world of battles. A first turning point came in 2014, when he won the French solo championship title, as well as several international group competitions. The recognition brought by these awards led him to travel and discover breaking culture in different countries, where he developed a broad and critical perspective on the form.
In 2014, meeting a teacher specialised in functional analysis of the body in danced movement transformed his relationship to gesture, opening him up to a deconstruction of his dance and to a more protean aesthetic. He first encountered the profession of performer in 2016, then went on to take part in creative processes with hip-hop and contemporary companies and choreographers such as Mellina Boubetra, Ayaghma, Chey Jurado and Naïf Production.
In 2023, Noé founded the company Les corps jetés to support his creation VISCUM. This first piece drew attention at Les Hivernales during the Festival d’Avignon and won first prize at RIDCC in Rotterdam, leading to a tour of more than 50 dates.

URTICA is a piece conceived for 4 bodies engaged in vivid, cutting movement.
URTICA is a space of exhaustion and equality, delimited by a rectangle of debris and microphones hanging from the ceiling.
A place of ritual, modesty and dignity.
URTICA is a proposal for what noble things can be made from debris, simplicity and violence.
URTICA is a return to ordinary language, to the artisan body. To say what we say and do what we do. Nothing more.

The body. I imagine a vocabulary made of twists, acrobatic flashes, sharp gestures and movement through space.
I intend to deepen the movement language created in Viscum, between syncopated rhythms, martial synchronisation and a feline relationship to the floor. I want to refine this grammar and apply it to this small pack.

I will explore grasping and seizing the other. I want to create mechanics in which the people on stage take hold of one another with both hands in order to throw themselves forward and move together.
The power will come from the stage, from the commitment of the bodies and from the sound they produce.
I like seeing the shift from the dancing body to the everyday body, so we will work on sequenced motifs and ruptures between highly physical engagement and a neutral body.
