The Funkonnection collective was founded by Florie Mongrédien, Thaïs Desveronnières and Laurence Munoz in 2023, with the aim of promoting funk culture across the Lyon area.
The three dancers and choreographers share their passion with a wide audience through a range of unifying cultural projects: popular funk balls, locking and soul dance shows, and battles set to live funk music. They also offer locking classes and workshops throughout the Lyon area.

TEAM

Florie Mongrédien
Florie Mongrédien is a multidisciplinary dancer specialising in locking, as well as a choreographer and teacher. For the past 20 years, she has devoted herself to hip-hop dances, exploring their diversity and contagious energy.
She performs with three hip-hop companies in Lyon: Stylistik, IAAL and Karma. In 2019, she co-founded Les Alchimistes, a company created to shine a light on funkstyle dances, locking and popping, through inclusive, welcoming and unifying events. Since 2019, she has also been part of the hosting team for the Soul Train Fever evenings at Ninkasi Gerland, then Cordeliers.
Driven by a search for meaning, she thrives in projects where human connection and sharing are at the heart. She was assistant choreographer to Abdou N’Gom for the 2023 and 2025 editions of the Biennale de la danse, as well as for the piece Reverse Se Rêver in 2024, as part of a project designed to build connections between people seeking refugee status and French citizens from the same town. In May 2024, she co-founded the Funkonnection Lyon collective to promote locking through shows, popular funk balls, workshops and regular classes. With this collective, she is committed to creating events that bring together audiences, musicians and dancers, always guided by values of inclusion, sharing and generosity.
Laurence Munoz
Laurence Munoz is a dancer shaped by hip-hop influences. Her generous dance is, above all, an expression of her values and convictions.
During humanitarian trips abroad, she had the opportunity to dance both in the steppes of Asia and in villages across Africa, meeting different peoples through a universal language: dance.
Her main stage remains the street. She loves being close to others, exchanging a glance, and feeling the impact of movement on the spectator.
Today, she choreographs within the Stylistik collective alongside Abdou N’Gom, in France and Senegal, and assists him on several events, including the 2023 and 2025 editions of the Biennale de la danse. She has also been teaching at Pôle en Scène in Bron since 2023.
Thaïs Desveronnieres
Thaïs Desveronnières defines herself as a contemporary dancer with a funk twist. She performs with several companies, including La Guetteuse, La Piraterie and Ascendances. In late 2019, she co-founded Collectif Librations, where she works as both choreographer and dancer.
Firmly committed to multidisciplinary practice, she also explores locking, percussive dance and violin. In 2023, she took part in the “Passeurs de rythmes en mouvements” training programme, led by Leela Petronio at Pôle Aliénor in Poitiers, giving her a new artistic language with which to play with rhythm. In parallel, she regularly leads workshops and classes for a wide range of audiences. In 2019, she notably transmitted the piece Flowers Crack Concrete, choreographed by Yuval Pick, to a group of amateur dancers with the CCN de Rillieux-la-Pape.
