These open classes, guided by dancer and choreographer Thomas Demay, will be directly linked to the current and lively research of Collectif A/R. Designed as training to prepare the body to react and interact, they will explore the notions of repetition, ‘partnership’ and taking space through momentum. They will question the dancers: how can the group generate a vibration? They will invite them to do, undo and redo.
Born in 1987, Thomas Demay trained at EPSE danse in Montpellier, then from 2008 to 2012 at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse (CNSMD) in Lyon in contemporary dance. There he studied the repertory of Pina Bausch, Trisha Brown and Claude Brumachon.
Since 2012, together with Julia Moncla and Paul Changarnier in the Collectif A/R, he has been creating performances. Together, they question the music/dance relationship and compose for multiple spaces. Their projects develop and travel in France and abroad (Norway, Spain, Germany, Italy, England, Switzerland, Burkina Faso, Russia…).
Thomas Demay works with a number of choreographers, including Davy Brun, Samuel Mathieu, Yan Raballand, Anne Le Batard & Jean-Antoine Bigot, David Hernandez, Sébastien Ly, Thomas Guerry and Amala Dianor. He is currently working on Lionel Bègue’s children’s show Cabane.
