Lalanbik, the National Choreographic Development Center – Indian Ocean, based in Reunion Island, has been invited by the CND Lyon for a carte blanche event in collaboration with local cultural partners: CCN Rillieux-la-Pape, the Goethe Institute, the Maison de la Danse, Les Subsistances, and the CRR. On this occasion, Lalanbik will present the work of three companies it closely supports and mentors, perfectly showcasing the diversity of choreographic styles specific to the geographical, cultural, and historical context of the CDCN. From January 20 to 28, a series of events will be organized, including regular dancer training, workshops for both amateurs and professionals, residencies and residency presentations, roundtable discussions, and performances.
Ma vie sans bal
Éric Languet – Compagnie Danses En L’R #Réunion
“My Life Without a Ball” stems from the desire to simply express what inclusive dance© is, as we have practiced it since the early 2000s at Danses en l’R. It comes from my wish to share dance with all kinds of people often considered “abnormal,” from the foundational principles of this pedagogy that enable each person to reach their fullest potential, and from the vision of disability that underpins this approach.
What are the personal, social, and political repercussions of implementing this vision? We do not have ready-made answers, nor lessons to impart, but Wilson and I are committed to sharing a human experience that goes far beyond the confines of a dance studio.”

Biographies
Éric Languet - Compagnie Danses En L’R (Réunion)
Eric Languet, dancer and choreographer, has never truly managed to integrate into groups, despite adhering to the conventions of the field. This feeling of illegitimacy has fueled his artistic journey, where he explores the margins and abnormality. After discovering dance in Réunion Island, he studied in France, joined the Paris Opera Ballet, and later the Royal New Zealand Ballet, where he became a principal dancer and choreographer. Influenced by Jiri Kylian and William Forsythe, he founded the company Danses en l’R in Réunion Island in 1998, focusing on human and socially engaged dance. Based at the Hangar in Saint-Gilles, the company stands out for its work on integrating disability and created the concept of "integrative dance," officially established in 2017. It undertakes numerous international projects and offers training programs to share this innovative approach, while continuing to reflect on irreverence and societal norms.

Wilson Payet - Compagnie Danses En L’R (Réunion)
A young man with a physical disability, reliant on a wheelchair due to spina bifida (a spinal cord condition). At the age of 10, he began practicing parasports and went on to become a multiple-time champion and gold medalist in wheelchair racing (100m, 800m, 1500m). He also became a Réunion Island champion in wheelchair basketball. In 2011, he discovered Integrative Dance by participating in a Danses en l’R project with the IEM of St-Louis. Thanks to his talent and the dedicated pedagogical support of the Danses en l’R company, he became a professional dancer. He performed in the duo Attention Fragile in 2012 and in four other choreographic pieces by Éric Languet, which were showcased at various festivals in mainland France and Réunion Island. He also completed the first pedagogical training in what was then referred to as "integrated dance," which later enabled him to assist with classes and even lead them on occasion.
La danse intégrante
La danse intégrante© is an innovative dance pedagogy that brings together people with and without disabilities. This is not “dance for people with disabilities”; instead, it is a reflection and practical application of the concept of integration through a shared artistic practice.
This dance practice is driven by a vision of humanity based on the following fundamental principles, regardless of the physical or mental abilities of each participant:
- Every human being can enhance their ability to make their own choices at any moment.
- Every human being carries within them a creative gestural potential.
- Every human being can learn throughout their life.
- Every human being needs recognition from their peers to feel whole and complete.
Every human being is in constant interaction with human and non-human environments in the various situations they experience. As a result, disability is not a characteristic of the individual but arises from the quality of their relationship with each environment.
Sutra
Stephen Bongarcon – Compagnie SR Dance (Maurice)
The starting point is the word of Buddha: “Nyo o rengé kyo,” meaning the Sutra of the Lotus Flower. The Lotus Flower is a symbol of peace and light. The plant grows in mud and dirt, yet its flower rises above the soil. In order to leave a better world for our children, Stephen Bongarçon invites us to absorb the essence of the lotus, its message.
Within each of us, there is a part of goodness. It is simply a matter of letting it shine. Stephen Bongarçon writes and performs his solo Kathak SUTRA in the SAGAM style, with the goal of delivering a message of hope and awakening consciousness.

Biographie
Stephen Bongarcon - Compagnie SR Dance (Maurice)
Stephen Bongarçon is a dancer, choreographer, and founder of the SAGAM festival in Mauritius. He has been, in turn, an apprentice dancer, choreographer, trainer, and producer. In 1995, he founded the SR Dance Company and School, based on the SAGAM dance style he personally created: a fusion of contemporary dance, Kathak (a traditional North Indian dance), and Mauritian séga. From a very young age, he saw dance as an outlet, or dance became his outlet. This style has earned him regular invitations to international stages, through tours and moments of sharing and teaching his unique technique.

Regularly invited to perform on international stages (Leu Tempo festival, SAGAM, Taiwan Children’s World Festival, Jeux de la Francophonie, etc.), Rayhas carries through his voice, dance, and music the ancestral values and cultural wealth of his country.
Un animal sauvage peut croiser votre route
Marion Schrotzenberger – Collectif lookatmekid (Belgique)
Marion Schrotzenberger continues her process of writing from daily life, extending the autofictional form she began in Si Pina m’avait demandé. For 8 months, she was compelled to make 700 km round trips every Thursday night, traveling between her children and her work.
A 7-hour car journey, condensed into a 1-hour performance.
A nighttime journey.
A choreography of the road.
A starting point – A destination.
The car. The enclosed space. The mobile enclosed space.
The highway: the defined space – the two-way road – the safety lines (continuous and discontinuous).
The stops: rest areas, the coffee machine, the restrooms.

Biographie
Marion Schrotzenberger - Collectif lookatmekid (Belgique)
Marion Schrotzenberger is a choreographer, dancer, and filmmaker. With her dual roots between Réunion Island, where she originates from, and Brussels, she has a strong affinity for the everyday lives of ordinary people, cooking, humor, and the stories shared late at night.
Her work uses dance and imagery to create a portrait of herself and her loved ones.
Like a mirror that shows only one side at a time.
Like an investigator probing her own existence.
Like all the past lives intertwining and colliding to form the destiny of a single person.
