“For this new production, I wish to pursue the essence of my choreographic writing through a triptych of three short pieces. I wish to deepen a sensitive and simple exploration of the composition of movement. I lead a work of craft and construction of singular gestures. The most valuable thing these days is to deepen the gesture through the senses, to lead a simple quest of stripped down and close relationship with performers and artistic collaborations.“
— Daniel Larrieu, November 2021
First a male solo, then a female trio, and why not a quintet finale? It's built up in small steps, composed in short, mobile formats that link up to form a complete program for the stage (...). It's also about the landscape, a choreographic horizon. Where bodies and gestures melt into space, create their own fictions, return to basics, dialogue with the world around us, explore its folds, hollows and bumps, reconnect with its materials and elements, with its sounds, but also with words and thoughts.
On stage, simple scenes of life with bucolic accents, sober graphic or abstract lines, punctuated by enigmatic signs and other games or rituals that oscillate between suspension and suspense, resonate with previous pieces, such as Romance en stuc (1985), or Chiquenaudes (1982) among the early creations that made Daniel Larrieu's reputation and which the choreographer has, in his own words, "reactivated" by remounting them in 2019.
This new project, with its three 21-minute dance sequences entitled Pan, Plis and Peau, each reflects a different writing process, from the intimate to the collective, and speaks to us of our environment (...). The stage is matte, nocturnal and relies on invisibility. It's a question of perceiving something that touches us, that runs through us, from the bodies at work, from their presence to their disappearance.
