Upshot is interested in the behaviors, norms and postures of an individual in relation to a group. Alternately excluded, included, marginalized and using their own and distinct choreographic vocabulary, each dancer interprets different social roles depending on the codes they have and those they must acquire to join the group. The movements and the body then become a way of presenting oneself to the other, of talking about oneself, of starting a dialogue. Upshot confronts the individual and the group, the degrees of inclusion or exclusion and takes us on an exploration of symbolism and self-representations.
The dancers of Cie Relevant are all from Lyon. It was in 2016, enriched by their participation in the Babel 8.3 project - a participatory project led by the Maison de la Danse de Lyon and choreographed by Abou Lagraa - that they decided to create their own company. Their desire is to meet other dances and other worlds, motivated and carried by the creative energy of hip-hop. Today, they wish to address human and social issues, with the desire to challenge and question current society.
