“No longer feeling cramped in your own skin”.
CALOR brings together on stage three bodies with an initial temperature of 37°C. Three performers embark on a physical investigation, traversing the different scales of heat produced by their bodies and their encounter. A thermal surge that seeks to ignite us from within, reaching a body that expands until it can no longer fit within the confines of its skin. A radical expansion of intimate space, becoming shared space, blurring the boundaries of self and other through ecstasy and dreams.
CALOR is the second work in a triptych of performative practices whose starting point is an extended reflection on the barrier that envelops us and defines the contours of our being: the skin. In this part, the boundaries of our body are put into perspective through a quest to reach a body in expansion.
Is it possible to exist in some way beyond these limits (physical and metaphorical)? Would this require a form of altruism, the creation of a common space? And finally, how might dance be a way forward in the quest for this expansion?
Ramon Lima
Ramon Lima is a dancer and choreographer whose choreographic research focuses on the experience of the body as the center of aesthetic and conceptual reflection in his projects. This characteristic is present both in the creative process and in encounters with the public. He is also interested in the notion of the right to the body, and how dance can reflect on the issues of body representation and the relationship to the collective.
He trained at IdA - Brasília Institute of Arts, where he studied performing arts between 2012 and 2016. In 2019, he is moving to France to further develop his artistic practice. To this end, he is enrolling in the Master's program in Artistic Creation and Performing Arts at the Université Grenoble Alpes, which he is completing in the creative research mode.
In 2021, Ramon Lima created Protopolis, a choreographic installation that questions notions of belonging through artistic composition protocols that take place in urban space.
In 2023, Ramon Lima joins the T.R.I.P choreographic practice and research laboratory proposed by multidisciplinary artist Ivana Müller at Le Pacifique - CDCN Grenoble. In this context, he embarks on new research into the relationship between the tactile and textiles, which takes the form of a participatory choreographic installation: MIRAGE.
In 2023, he presented Somnambule, a solo that explores the instances of sleep as a place of resistance to hegemonic logics of existence.
In France, Ramon Lima works with choreographers Anne Collod, Ivana Müller and Julie Desprairies, and in Portugal with artists André Braga and Cláudia Figueiredo.
