10am — 11:15am

Over the course of a week, dancers and transmitters Madoka Kobayashi and Noémie De Almeida Ferreira will introduce participants to choreographer Yuval Pick’s ® Practice method. A daily practice of the CCNR company, this method is now transmitted in numerous training courses and companies in France and abroad.

Practice

Over the last twenty years, Yuval Pick has developed a method that nourishes his dance and his pieces, and which has become the daily practice of the dancers in his company. This method provides tools to prepare the body for a day’s work, while inviting dancers to awaken their imaginations. Practice is explored together and contributes to the creation of a bond within a troupe.

The five fundamentals of Practice:

  • Body rotation
  • Weight transfer and rebound
  • Movement from center to periphery
  • The “space-in-between” as a playground
  • Every movement is an action motivated by an intention

These five fundamentals expand the physical and creative potential of dancers. They provide the tools for experiencing movement in real time and sharing expressiveness with others. Practice enriches virtuosity through precise exercises and improvisation guided by playful, organic images.
