In residency from September 2 to october 4, 2013
Cooperation with Yokohama Dance Collection EX
With support from the city of Lyon, its surrounding area and the French Institute, this fall the CCNR will be establishing an artistic cooperative relationship with the city of Yokohama, featuring the presence of the company of the CCNR at the Kazuo Ohno Festival organized by BankART, and by the hosting of a residency in Rillieux of the winner of the French Ambassador’s Prize at the Yokohama Dance Collection Ex 2013.
This residency will allow Miwa Okuno to follow the work of the permanent company as well as to continue her work on a solo project which will be performed in a demo at the end of her residency.
She began dancing at the age of 3 and also began her professional career when she was quite young. In addition to studying dance, she also trained in Indonesian martial arts and yoga. She went to New York to study further in 2009, and created her first solo, Koku. Her technical mastery is such that she can step away from it into a free, natural, essential form of movement. In 2013 she created another solo Highlight of Decline, for which she won two prizes at the Yokohama Dance Collection Ex 2013, the French Ambassador’s Prize for Young Choreographers and MASDANZA.
For this new piece, Miwa continues her research on the relationship between the body and the image.
